Flexible Event Control Timer

When automating scare events, a human detector like a mat switch, Passive Infra-Red (PIR) motion detector or some other sensor is usually not enough. How do you CONTROL the length of time power is applied to the effect regardless of how long the sensor switch is closed?   How do you prevent your effect from being set off repeatedly by the same patron/s, thus spoiling the scare for the next patron/s?      Haunt Master Products Flex ECT is specifically designed to solve these problems.

All of our haunt timers, including the Flex ECT are infinitely adjustable within their timing range of 140 seconds (2min 20 sec).  This is not true for digital timers where timing may be restricted to whole second increments.

The Flex ECT requires a source of 9-volt d.c. .  This may be supplied by a battery (operates the unit for about 5 days of 6 hours/night use) or our  9-volt d.c. battery eliminator.

The Flex ECT is an externally triggered, dual timer that is connected between a sensor (switch) and the electrically operated event device as shown in the diagram to the right. Two successive time intervals, T1 and T2 are each knob adjustable by the user to anywhere within the range of up to 140 seconds.  During one of these intervals A.C. power energizes the user's effect/s. The other time interval becomes a delay time, that occurs either before or after the effect is energized.

Why It's Called "Flex"
A toggle switch (red arrow in above pic) on each unit, allows the user to select either time interval T1 or T2 to energize the effect/s:

If T1 fires the effect, then T2 becomes a delay time after the prop has been energized. This delay time prevents the prop from being re-fired and spoiling the effect for the patrons that follow.

If T2 is used to fire the effect, then T1 becomes the time interval after the sensor detects before the prop is energized.

The latter is useful in that it can catch someone other than the first person, in a line of patrons. Also, it might be used to surprise a group of patrons all watching an initially static scene. Nothing happens so they are put at ease. In fact, they have already triggered the effect, so suddenly, with no one moving, the prop is activated.

Note Energize toggle switch for selecting either T1 or T2

Multi-Unit Connection
Another great advantage of the Flex ECT is that it gives the haunt builder the ability to produce sequential scare effects. Two or more units may be wired to the same sensor, and if they are set with different time delays (T1), they will trigger their effects at different times. You can even use a standard haunt timer (not necessarily ours) and one Flex ECT to set off sequential scare effects. This is reason alone to have at least one in your arsenal of haunt timers.
